The Backpacking Trip Process
Part 1: Booking your trip
The first step toward experiencing a fun-filled and rewarding backpacking experience is to book your trip! Look through the trails page to see what you might like to hike, then complete the form at the bottom of this page. Have a group trip in mind? No problem! Just have every group member fill out the form so I know who all will join our trip. Please book your trip at least 3 months prior.
If you are unsure of what trail you would like to hike, I am happy to recommend what I think is best depending on your experience and skill level.
Please note that a 50% refundable deposit and signed waiver are due 2 months prior to your trip, and the full cost is due 1 week prior to your trip. The trip cost estimate and waiver will be emailed within 48 hours of completing the form.
Part 2: Planning and Prep
After your backpacking trip has been booked, we will begin preparing for the hike. Understand that backpacking is a strenuous activity and does require some level of physical fitness. For newcomers, I highly recommend loading up a backpack at home and going for a 30min-1hr walk wearing that pack to feel what hiking will be like.
Trip planning will also include discussion on what food we bring, how we're getting water, where to camp on trail, and what clothing to wear when hiking.
I will ask to meet with either individuals or group leaders twice in-person or through video conference to discuss our trip and answer any questions you may have.
Part 3: Go Backpacking!
Finally, when the time comes, we get to hit the trail!
While hiking, we will discuss trail etiquette, pace setting, and leave no trace principles.
Once in camp you can learn how to set your tent, how to stay warm at night, and cooking your trail-ready meals.
Wilderness backpacking is an exciting adventure and I do hope you join me for a trip!
